Preparing for a visit
- You will be offered a date and convenient time to come and see us.
- You may be sent some questions or activity to complete to prepare for the visit
- You may bring a support person
- If you have any special requests prior to the visit, contact our staff on 03 467 6605 or send an email.
- Prepare for an hour to two to complete your visit process with us.
Day of visit
- There is ample parking space provided at the Mercy Hospital campus. See Mercy campus map.
- Mackenzie Gynaecology is in Suite 22 on the second floor. Main Reception at Mercy Hospital will provide directions. There is clear signposting along the way to our rooms.
- You will be met and checked in by our cheerful staff in Suite 22.
- You will meet our nurse to prepare for your Consultation with Mr Mackenzie.
- After your consultation, you may be asked to do some tests/investigations within Mercy Hospital or other place, leading to a follow-up visit.
Surgery/Operation appointments
- Bookings are in most cases made at a time convenient to you. In most cases you should get a booking within a month.
- You will complete booking paperwork on the day of the visit or paperwork is sent to your address.
- Operations are done at Mercy Hospital, with its modern facilities. Inpatient recovery is on McAuley Ward on the first floor. The Day Stay is on the ground floor.
- Pre-admission visit and meet the Anaesthetist happens the evening before the surgery. You may be contacted by the Anaesthetist days before your surgery for a visit or requested to do special tests if these are required.
Fees and Invoicing for consultations and surgery
- We accept all medical insurance and privately funded care.
- We are SouthernCross affiliated provider and ACC provider. We do the paperwork for you.
- You will be provided with invoices to submit to your provider for all other insurance providers and for surgical fees.
- We provide you with clear approximate charges for your care at the time of booking for surgery.
- If you are privately funded, you may be asked for a portion of charges upfront.
Follow-up and ongoing care
- We walk the journey of recovery with you until you are discharged from our care. Bladder care. Uterine health. Pelvic floor reconstruction.
- We have good collaborations with other providers for your recovery and ongoing care.
